StressNav:
A Digital Health Project

StressNav is a digital health solution used to calculate and display the overall stress level of jet pilots and racecar drivers. It comes up with this calculation using a combination of a CNN machine learning model and sensors from a smart watch. The smart watch sensors include the Heart Rate (HR) and Heart Rate Variability (HRV). The ML output and sensor results are then put together in an equation to form the overall stress level.

What I Learned

While I have used android developer in the past, I have never worked with a smart watch interface or Kotlin. Furthermore, sensors were very new to me. But I quickly got the hang of using virtual sensors and the emulator to test my program. Limited documentation made putting together the body sensors very difficult, our team unfortunately couldn't include other sensors because of limits to the options and time. But I'm still glad I fully implemented the HR and HRV statistics.

What I Did

Collaborated in a five person team, each of us focused on a different aspect of the project.
I was primarily who developed the Smart Watch component of the project, from the UI to the sensors.
Implemented the HR sensor, which I then used to calculate the HRV. Both of these statistics were displayed on the UI.
Came up with a final 'Stress Equation', which was used to combine the results from the smart watch sensors and the machine learning binary output to display the final stress calculation.

Honorable Memory

Our final presentation for the class included a PowerPoint explanation of all our work as well as a one-on-one meeting with the Instructor and Teaching Assistant to demonstrate our work and receive feedback. They were very impressed with our work.
